10 Reasons Your Business Needs a Blog
Well here’s 10 reasons why you should get yourself one!
1. To reach your customers
Have a think about the general area your business falls under. Maybe you’re great at SEO or maybe you’re an up-market stationery seller! Whatever it is, creating an informative blog that relates to your products and links back to your site can be a great way to reach customers who didn’t know they were looking for you!
2. To improve your SEO
Search Engine Optimization. It’s big business online today! If you create a blog with plenty of links back to your own site, you’re ramping up your SEO points and improving your search rankings! Also, a blog is a great place to put keywords (also essential for good SEO!) that may clutter up your site.3. To find your company’s ‘voice’
If you’re a small business, you probably don’t have the time or resources to worry too much about things like marketing. One thing your company needs is a consistent ‘voice’ the tone in which you’ll produce any email or website copy, press releases and anything your company ‘says’ Blogging is a wonderful way to experiment in a way that (as long as you don’t blog anything offensive) won’t damage your reputation. Write a few posts and decide what feels right, see how people react to your posts and decide which ‘voice’best represents your business.4. To prove you aren’t JUST a company
There are a lot of companies all fighting for business, you need to make yourself stand out! Appeal to your customers, show them you aren’t just a business but that you have ideas, experiences and opinions to share! Let your customers get to know what really makes you tick and they’re more likely to stick with you.5. To promote yourself
You know you’re great, but sometimes you need to explain this to people. A blog is a great way for you to explore the problems your business is trying to solve. Lay these out for the customer, so, for example, if you’re a gluten-free biscuit seller, tell customers the problems with obtaining gluten-free biscuits and then show them your solutions! If your blog is informative in your field, you’ll be in with a greater chance of attracting customers.6. To get shared!
This is another SEO related reason! Whenever your content is shared online, it creates a link that search engines use to determine your popularity –the more links/shares you have, the better you are and the further up the search rankings you go! Not only this, but if customers share you, you’re more likely to get new customers from these recommendations! Make sure your blog has all the standard share buttons (the likes of Facebook and Twitter) and maybe try some newer ones like Blooie which allows you to host discussions of your content on site and gives you a whole host of customer insights!7. To explain yourself
Every business is a journey and I’m willing to bet that your journey has been an interesting one! Tell the world all about your successes and struggles, give advice for people in the same boat and give your customers an insight into why you’re doing what you’re doing. If you do this for no other reason, do it because it will help you realise where you are and where you’ve been –a great soul-searching exercise!8. To establish yourself as an expert
People are more likely to take you seriously as an expert. No doubt you have lots of great, helpful advice that is screaming to be shared! Note it all down in your blog and become a go-to expert for whatever your business-field is!9. To improve your business mind-set
Sometimes it can be tough in business, especially if your company is very small! Write your blog as a way to motivate yourself to get going! Spill out your passion onto your keyboard to ignite your motivation –seriously, it works!10. So you aren’t missing out!
Just about everyone has a blog these days, it may sound childish but you don’t want to be the loser that doesn’t have one!
