Getting Started With SEO For Bing

0 comments Posted by Unknown on 18:53

Getting Started With SEO For Bing

SEO refers to the strategies that are employed to ensure that your website is highly visible online during organic searches by search engines. How well these strategies work will determine the kind of visibility that your website will experience. This in turn affects the popularity of the brand you are trying to push online and hence the annual sales and revenue.

Too often, most SEO professionals optimize websites based on what Google requires. With a market share of slightly over 65%, this approach makes sense. If you want to take advantage of all the resources left to you though, you have to consider other search engines as well. Microsoft's Bing, for example has its fair share of around 16% of all search engine queries. If the potential users of these two major search engines are targeted, then your website stands to gain. A potential target of over 80% is a great start to staying ahead of your competitors.

Understanding how Bing therefore, is the first step in ensuring you can enhance your brand's online visibility and corner your market. Below are some of the differences between Google and Bing search engines. Learning the differences will help you know how you should optimize your website

Bing has slower results

In terms of overall users, Microsoft wins easily over the Google Inc. This however, has not been able to translate into similar number of queries. The algorithms made by Bing are very simple and hence less able to compete with Google when it comes to getting query responses. Users are thus unable to get the responses they want quick enough, even though your ranking may be better there, than on Google. This means that you have to use Google, which is extremely competitive.

Bing has better social media interaction features

What the search engine lacks in terms of speed and complexity of its algorithms, it makes up for with easier integration to Facebook and Twitter. Due to their partnership with Microsoft, Bing has access to data provided by these platforms to give people very specific information that is highly appreciated.

Bing has better appeal than Google

Bing may be slow in bringing up results, but when it does, the results are worth it. Research shows that most online users prefer the layout and visual details of the pages displayed by the search engine. This makes it highly appealing to those who are interested in the visual aspects of the information they want.

Bing therefore, has pros and cons that you can address in order to get the best rankings and results when employing SEO for your website. That said, it is important to note that in principle, the search engines work the same way. This means that you can use SEO techniques similar to those for Google largely to enhance your brand's online profile. Some of the techniques you should employ include:

Social Media Optimization

Bing is already a leader as far as obtaining information from major social media platforms is concerned, so why not take advantage of that? You can employ SEO professionals who will ensure they promote your brand aggressively to your social media audience. This information can be integrated within the Bing search engine to help you achieve a very high profile ranking within its 16% share market.

Write good quality Content

Irrespective of the search engine that you use, you have to provide good quality content to users online. This content can be relevant within your business niche, but it should not be overly promotional. Aggressive marketing does not appeal to online users who want information about topics relevant to their needs. You should ensure that the content affiliated to your website and brand is interesting enough, to make the readers want to know more about what you have on offer. The more articles you have, the higher your websites chances of gaining visibility online.

Utilize Links and Optimized Keywords

The keywords that you have will act as a tool to help users online to access your website. This means that they have to be as related as possible to your brand products and services. You can have them incorporated within the content as well as within your website name.

Links are used to bring more users to your website while providing them with all information they need on their chosen subject matter. You can use them to join web pages internally and externally.

With the right SEO approaches, you should be able to experience increased number of visitors to your site via both Bing and Google. This means more money for you.

Google Panda Update

Why the Google Panda Update Didn't Change SEO

Author: Mike Wood

tips on seo google panda
I've been reading a lot of articles and blog posts lately about the changes that Google panda has made to SEO. I've heard reports of it completely killing sites, dinging reputable article directories, removing large retailer results, you name it; if you got dinged; it's the panda. But did Panda really change the seo game? I don't think so.

The Google panda update did ding a lot of sites, but the main focus of the update seemed to be getting rid of content farms. If you're not familiar with a content farm, it's basically a constant stream of posts and articles (either unique or copied) that simply exist to put more content on a webpage in hopes of focusing keywords and attracting backlinks from pingbacks and re-posts. You could have a team of outsourcers that could write literally hundreds of subpar articles and publish them to improve their search engine optimization efforts. And it worked; at least for a while.

Some big name businesses were even caught up in the content farm scheme - look what happened with J.C. Penney. In one simple update, Google took away what had worked and worked surprisingly well for months. During this time content was king - the more you had the better - it didn't matter where it came from or how well it was written; content was content.

Now the question is, did content farming work for everyone? Not really. Like it still does now, Google relies very heavily – even though they vehemently deny it – on its own metric of pagerank or PR and the age of the domain. Older sites were able to (and still can) post hundreds of links to their sites a week without taking any ding in search results. This is something a new domain couldn't and still can't do; or they'll be destined for the sandbox (although it's not really as bad as it sounds).

So what did Google do? They decided that instead of changing the rules for older sites vs. newer sites, they would change how they read and grade content; which makes for a more even playing field in the long run. The person with the better content gets the recognition; sites that are merely copying and pasting are regarded as junk; but authority sites and older domains still have the advantage – they just need to provide some decent content for a change.

Now there was an unfortunate side effect of the Google panda update, article sites were hit, and hit hard. Specifically Ezine Articles and Articlebase, which saw their search rankings take a huge smack from the Panda. Google's new algorithm regarded these sites as content farms. But anybody who writes articles understands that these sites are no content farms. These sites have teams of people who read, edit, and approve articles for these sites; there is no duplicate content and the quality is high. So why the hit?

Well, even though these sites were not (and still aren't) content farms, they did leverage an incredible amount of power from being such prominent domains. At the peak of search engine optimization before the Google Panda update, I could pick a keyword (almost any keyword you could imagine) write a properly optimized article, post it on a high profile article site, and get it on the 1st page of Google within 3 days. No joke. It took barely any effort to get these high in the SERPS - these sites had become so powerful, they completely dominated the search results. It was rare to find a niche keyword where an article directory or eHow page wasn't in the top 10.

So was the panda hit on these sources deserved? Yes and No. Yes because it was too easy to get high rankings and results from articles alone, and No because some of the articles were legitimately written and probably deserved the rankings they had achieved.

Even though article directories might have taken an unfair hit, one thing is for sure, eHow deserved it's slap. eHow was, and still is a content farm. Most of their articles are simply junk pieces, written quickly and without much care, and are loaded, absolutely filled to the brim, with ads. Yet after the Panda dust settled, I still find eHow results in the top 10 for nearly 50% of the keywords I'm researching. Why is that? Has eHow found a way to game the Panda system or has their content gotten better. Something tells me it's not the latter.

The truth is, after the initial hit and much of the dust settled, most of my sites are doing way better than they ever were before the Google Panda update. Some of them have improved way better than I expected, but that really doesn't come as a surprise to me. What Google panda did was get rid of the junk in their SERPS and reward those with good link structure and content.

Anyone who knows good search engine optimization knows the basics of on page and off page seo and the importance that content and solid backlinks bring. Not paying for links, not spamming, not content farming, these were all things people knew they shouldn't be doing, but they did anyway, and why? Because for a while it worked. But like every Google update before it, Panda was there to close the exploits, ding the black hats, and reward the white hats.

Content – quality content – has and always will be king to Google. They might favor older or authority domains, but they generally have good quality content to go along with them. If you want to create a site and optimize it for a keyword, you can't keyword stuff or content farm anymore, you need to put some effort behind it; but that's always been the case. So did the Google Panda update change seo for good? Yes and No.

Yes because the act of content farming, article and backlink spamming, are effectively dead. No because the same principles that provided good results in the past still provide good results today. The Google Panda update is just another, in a long line of Google updates, to improve and reward the hardworking marketers that continue to do things the right way.

How to optimize content for SEO

Author: rahulkumar

optimize content for SEO
Content optimization is the process of creation & alteration of websites content to increase its visibility & quality in search engine. The main purpose of content Optimization in SEO is to improve the website ranking in SERPs. In content optimization we create the content according to the target keywords which we selected for particular Web page.

Some of the methods for optimizing the content

Long tail, Short tail & alternative keywords:

Long tail keywords mean more specific keyword which is easily search able. They are highly specific, and do not create more traffic for the website, but create more quality traffic. Long tail keywords can also be used by professional and visitor in different ways.

Short tail keywords are short and general keyword which defines the purpose of your webpage but in short tail keywords you have to interact with the entire website not specific page.Long tail keywords: SEO Company in Jaipur

Short tail keyword: SEO Company

In alternate keywords we use other keyword which have same meaning like "employment" alternative word is "Job" so we can use these keywords for more exploration.

 Find Keywords:
1. For finding keywords, we can use many tools like Google Ad Words Keyword Tool, word tracker or Google Search-based Keyword Tool. Many paid tools are also available for searching.
2. You can also install Web tracking tool like Google analytics for finding those keywords which mostly people are using for finding your website.

Where to use keywords:
If you write your keywords in natural way in your content which is easily understand by human and then use long tail keywords in the first line of your content and you should also try to use these keywords in your website title. If you use short tail & alternative keywords in your content then it is also beneficial for you.
How Not to Use Keywords
If you use same keywords many times in your Article and do not maintain keyword density then it is not fruitful for improving ranking in SERPs and Google may penalize your site which is not beneficial for SEO. So always try to maintain keyword density optimal and use your keyword on website in natural manner.
Formatting Your Content:
You should use header tags & strong tags in your website content. Your content looks more attractive and easily readable if you use bullet points in content.
Target Your Pages to Specific Content
You should not use more content on one page and target your pages to a specific service or keywords. If you use more content in one page then it will become very confusing for search engine so you should use more pages in your website if you are talking about the variety of different topics or products.

How To Appear On The First Page Of Google Search Results

Author: Evan Mangan

ggogle pr 1Once you create a website for your business, you quickly figure out that people are not flocking to it. When you assess the different ways of driving traffic, your options include advertising your website address, promoting your website address through Public Relations and gaining media coverage, encouraging other sites to link to you and getting placed in online directories.

However, these marketing activities will deliver small and sporadic volumes of traffic. The single biggest thing you can do to drive traffic is search engine marketing. Here is why: it is estimated that 80% of traffic to most websites comes from search engines. There are roughly 500 million searches performed everyday and 88% of that traffic comes from the top 4-5 search engines, Google, Yahoo, Ask and MSN. Of these, Google is by far the largest. Approximately 90% of people searching do not go past the third page of results and few go beyond the first page.

Therefore, if you want to drive traffic to your site it is imperative that you get onto the first three pages of Google and the other top search engines. Surprisingly, the majority of small businesses have not figured this out yet and for those who have, the majority are asking the question, How can I get my site to appear on the first page of Google search results?

Different Options

There are two main methods of appearing on the first page of search results.

Paid for results or Pay Per click (PPC)
This is where you pay to appear in the sponsored links section of the results page. In Google, this is at the top of the page and the right hand side. You decide which search keywords e.g. London restaurant, you would like to appear in. You appear in the search results and you pay for every user who clicks through to your site. The cost will vary by keyword and can range from 10p to several pounds or dollars per click, depending on how many other companies are bidding for that keyword.

Natural results achieved through SEO
Natural results are when you appear in the main list of results. You do not pay to appear or when a user clicks on your link. However, to appear on the first three pages of results, you need to implement a number of design and content changes to your website, which are termed Search Engine Optimisation or SEO.

Which is best?
Both have their merits, but natural results are by far the most preferable because once you have invested in SEO, you do not have to pay for the traffic that is generated.

PPC is a great solution if you:
Have just launched your website and you need immediate presence on the first page of result or if you have not yet successfully optimised your site to appear on the first page. Remember, there are thousands of websites all looking to appear on the first page of search results for certain keywords.

Spiders and Links: The Basics of How Search Engines Work

Without getting bogged down in the technical details of how search engines work, here are a few basics that you should be aware of.

Search engines want to ensure that the most relevant sites are displayed to customers who are searching for keywords e.g. London restaurants.

Each page is ranked by the search engine on different criteria.

Each search engine uses different criteria when calculating the ranking of the site, but there are some commonalities such as:
Automated Spiders are sent by the search engine to index each page on your site. These spiders log the content of your site. This allows the search engine to know whether the key words that a user is searching for appear within your site and on specific web pages. However, in addition, the search engines have decided that it is not sufficient to simply have the keywords appear in the site. They believe that the most useful and relevant sites for the person who is searching are those which have a lot of other relevant sites linking to it.

The important points you should take out are:
You want to make it as easy as possible for the spiders to visit and index your site.
You need to have relevant keywords on your site that are easily found by the spiders.
You need to have many other sites linking to your site.

Four Components of SEO

In order to optimise your website to appear in natural search results, there are four components that you will need to address.

1. Design: What to do when designing your website

Many small businesses make the mistake of designing their website and then start thinking about driving traffic to it. The problem is that the way you design your site can result in your site being ignored by the search engine spiders, which means you will receive very little traffic. When designing your site, ensure you avoid the following pitfalls and ask your marketing agency to confirm that they have been avoided.

Avoid flash sites
Sites are designed in HTML or flash codes. The spiders that are sent to your site by the search engines cannot read flash.

No frames
Some agencies design sites within frames. For example, the menu on the left might be within a frame and the main body of the page within another frame. It makes designing the site easier as the only thing that changes from page to page is the content within the frame. However, spiders cannot read what is inside a frame so you will not get indexed and noticed by search engines.

No dynamic pages
Some sites are developed with a database which generates dynamic pages. You can tell if there are dynamic pages on your site if there is a ? within the page URL. Again, most but not all of the search engines can read dynamic pages.

Text within graphics
To ensure text is read uniformly by different browsers, design agencies often put text within a graphic. It looks great, however, a spider cannot read what text is in a graphic and simply moves on.

Keywords
At design stage, think about the keywords you want to be found by on search engines and incorporate that into your design. For example, if you were to design your site so that a page was allocated to the most popular keywords, it would be easier to include more keywords on the page which would be found by the spiders.

2. Content: What to do when developing your content

Keywords

Choosing the keywords that you want to appear in search results for is one of the most important things you can do. Think of it as planning the location for a physical shop. Choosing keywords that people search for a lot (i.e. generates a lot of potential traffic) and then ensuring that those keyword are peppered around your site (i.e. more chance that the spiders will index them giving you a good chance of appearing high in search results) could result in your being positioned on Oxford street as opposed to a back alley.

Invest time in choosing the keywords. Think about how you would search for your product or service. If you are running a restaurant, you should immediately think beyond the generic search keyword of restaurant and consider descriptive keywords such as seafood restaurant or family restaurant. You also need to think of target keywords, so consider London restaurant or London seafood restaurant.

Once you have decided on your keywords, you need to place them throughout your site. The main areas are:

Web page title
This is what you see written in the title bar of the browser. It is also what you see when you bookmark a page. This should explain what the purpose of your site or your page is and include keywords, but always in such a way that makes sense to a user who reads it.

Meta tags
The tags are not visible to users but they explain what the content of the page is. Keywords should be placed in here as they are easily searchable by spiders.

Homepage content
Your homepage is searched by the spiders and you should ensure that your keywords appear near the top header. They should also be sprinkled throughout the homepage. See keyword density for guidance on this.

Keyword density
A question often asked is how many times your keywords should appear on a page. The guidance for SEO is that each page should have a minimum of 250 words; your keywords should account for 2 - 8% of the word on the page. That means they should appear between 4 and 16 times.

Two important points to bear in mind are:
1. You need to balance the need to write your copy for your users, in order to sell your product, and the need to write your copy for search engines, in order to be found.
2. To help you achieve both objectives you should focus on a couple of keywords for each page rather than a large number.

3. Links

Inbound links are key
To combat a lot of sites achieving high page ranking by simply stuffing their sites with keywords, the search engines have placed a higher weighting on the value of the number of sites which link into a site. The rationale is that if a site is linked to by lots of other sites, then it must be offering popular and relevant content.

Therefore, your site might be designed in a way that is easily searchable by spiders and your content might be sprinkled with keywords, but you need to have other sites linking to you in order to achieve success.

Audit your links
Ensure you know how many other websites are linking into your site and set a goal for increasing that figure. You should have at least 100 quality links.

How to get links
There are many creative ways to generate links to your site:
Ask friends, customers or suppliers to link to your site.
Post comments on forums or discussion groups with a link back to our site.
Register your site with sites such as stumbleupon and if users like your site, they will bookmark it, creating a link to your site.
Issue an online press release which should result in online media coverage and links back to your site.
Register your site with multiple directories.

4. Maintenance:

Once you achieve a high ranking in the search engines, it is important to realise that you need to maintain your ranking. The criteria the search engines use in the algorithms constantly change and what works today may not work next week. Your site will need to be tweaked to bring you back up the rankings

How to Beat Your Competition in SEO

How to Beat Your Competition in SEO

seo with Your CompetitorsWhen it comes to SEO, everyone strives to be at the top - and why wouldn't it be that way when everyone is aware of the immense profitability of higher search engine rankings? Just by moving up one spot from the second position, you could start amassing over twice the number of visitors you were receiving previously for the keyword concerned. With all that said, you have to beat the obstacles (your competitors) in your way to get access to that traffic and resultant earnings you wish for, and here are ways you can achieve that.

1. Always keep up-to-date with SEO news:

In order for you to surpass your competitors in SEO, you have to be well acquainted with the latest SEO developments. SEO is getting more intricate everyday and it is very variable. As new changes are being rolled out, new methods are surfacing due to adaptation, while old methods are becoming less effective or obsolete. If you discover a new change before your competitors do, you will be able to adjust your strategy to one that is more effective and will give you an advantage over others.
Algorithm changes should be your prime target. Find out why each new algorithm update was executed, what kind of websites it affected and their characteristics, how to protect an unaffected website from future updates, and how to nullify the effect of the change on websites that are casualties of the algo update. It would be wise to bookmark essential websites such as Google's webmaster blog, SEOMoz's blog, Search Engine Land, and Search Engine Watch, and visit them constantly.

2. Analyze Your Competitors:

There is a likelihood that is strikingly indicative of the possibility of your competitor's techniques working for you, so take advantage of whatever knowledge you can glean by studying them. Whenever a competitor discovers something that works , they will inevitably implement it on their profitable websites, and you can capitalize on that if you are willing. The best way to beat them is not reading and reading more SEO courses, it is determining the hidden components of their successful websites.
Examine the websites of your rivals regularly to detect any alteration that occurs in their on-page optimization methods, e.g. changes in keyword placement, titles, internal links, etc. Additionally, keep track of your competitors' backlink profiles. What new backlinks are they building? Are their new strategies working for them? Changes in backlinks can be monitored with backlink analysis tools.

3. Create better content, and more:

The emphasis on content by all major search engines is conspicuous, and deserves attention. Search engines know that users are looking for thoughtful, helpful, and interesting content, and they are ready to reward websites that produce the best content because it gives them a better reputation. However, since that's mainly advantageous for search engines, you may be asking yourself what you stand to gain by creating good content regularly. Well, here they are:
- Increased spider visits: Your new articles will be indexed almost instantly and you'll start gaining traffic quickly.
- More visitors: People visit websites that are updated frequently with high-quality articles, videos, infographics, etc.
The better your content, the more natural backlinks and social activity (likes, tweets, plus ones) you will provoke, and all these can improve your search engine rankings. This is how you beat your SEO rivals with content!

4. Focus on your top keywords:

Imagine what would happen if you divided your efforts among your top keywords only. Your efforts will definitely pay off in a bigger way. When you are working hard towards ranking for a difficult but profitless keyword, you are not making good use of your time and resources. You can gain insight into the relative primeness of each keyword within your scope with the aid of free tools like Google Analytics, or premium tools like Raven Tools. Filter some keywords out based on their traffic and profitability and focus on the most important ones.
You will better your competitors faster this way because you are now expending more effort on fewer but significantly more profitable keywords which will definitely equate to faster results.
There's not much you can do when your competitors seem unbeatable, except getting up and working harder and smarter. This shouldn't be difficult for you if you follow the tips above. One last thing, don't expect instant results. If a method seems like it isn't helping, just be patient. Overtaking your competitors is not a quest that can be accomplished overnight.

Basics Tips For Seo And Free Seo Tools

Free SEO tools and about SEO tips
What is SEO:  SEO is a technique which helps search engines find and rank your site higher than the millions of other sites in response to a search query. SEO thus helps you get traffic from search engines.
This SEO tutorial covers all the necessary information you need to know about Search Engine Optimization - what is it, how does it work and differences in the ranking criteria of major search engines.

Methods

Getting indexed

The leading search engines, such as Google, Bing and Yahoo!, use crawlers to find pages for their algorithmic search results. Pages that are linked from other search engine indexed pages do not need to be submitted because they are found automatically. Some search engines, notably Yahoo!, operate a paid submission service that guarantee crawling for either a set fee or cost per click. Such programs usually guarantee inclusion in the database, but do not guarantee specific ranking within the search results. Two major directories, the Yahoo Directory and the Open Directory Project both require manual submission and human editorial review.Google offers Google Webmaster Tools, for which an XML Sitemap feed can be created and submitted for free to ensure that all pages are found, especially pages that aren't discoverable by automatically following links.
Search engine crawlers may look at a number of different factors when crawling a site. Not every page is indexed by the search engines. Distance of pages from the root directory of a site may also be a factor in whether or not pages get crawled. Additionally, search engines sometimes have problems with crawling sites with certain kinds of graphic content, flash files, portable document format files, and dynamic content.

Preventing crawling

To avoid undesirable content in the search indexes, webmasters can instruct spiders not to crawl certain files or directories through the standard robots.txt file in the root directory of the domain. Additionally, a page can be explicitly excluded from a search engine's database by using a meta tag specific to robots. When a search engine visits a site, the robots.txt located in the root directory is the first file crawled. The robots.txt file is then parsed, and will instruct the robot as to which pages are not to be crawled. As a search engine crawler may keep a cached copy of this file, it may on occasion crawl pages a webmaster does not wish crawled. Pages typically prevented from being crawled include login specific pages such as shopping carts and user-specific content such as search results from internal searches. In March 2007, Google warned webmasters that they should prevent indexing of internal search results because those pages are considered search spam.

Increasing prominence

A variety of methods can increase the prominence of a webpage within the search results. Cross linking between pages of the same website to provide more links to most important pages may improve its visibility.Writing content that includes frequently searched keyword phrase, so as to be relevant to a wide variety of search queries will tend to increase traffic. Updating content so as to keep search engines crawling back frequently can give additional weight to a site. Adding relevant keywords to a web page's meta data, including the title tag and meta description, will tend to improve the relevancy of a site's search listings, thus increasing traffic. URL normalization of web pages accessible via multiple urls, using the "canonical" meta tag or via 301 redirects can help make sure links to different versions of the url all count towards the page's link popularity score.
Backlink: Backlinks are incoming links to a website or web page. Inbound links were originally important (prior to the emergence of search engines) as a primary means of web navigation; today their significance lies in search engine optimization (SEO). The number of backlinks is one indication of the popularity or importance of that website or page (for example, this is used by Google to determine the PageRank of a webpage). Outside of SEO, the backlinks of a webpage may be of significant personal, cultural or semantic interest: they indicate who is paying attention to that page.
In basic link terminology, a backlink is any link received by a web node (web page, directory, website, or top level domain) from another web node. Backlinks are also known as incoming link, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links.

What is a backlink?

Any link to your site from an external domain is classed as a backlink, although in SEO terms this usually refers to editorial links (PR, blogs, articles etc) as opposed to those from search engines, banner adverts or other paid traffic sources. Despite being a source of traffic for the site, these links are vital to organic search rankings.
Search engines index web pages and store them in a database, but the order in which they serve these pages is dependent on the perceived relevance of the page to the search term used; and to the quality of the site itself. The search engines use various pieces of information in order to determine this, but the most important is the volume, quality and nature of backlinks to the site and to the specific domain.
Whilst no-one really knows exactly how the search engine algorithms work, studies are regularly carried out to assess which factors have the greatest impact on rankings. The latest ranking factors survey from SEOmoz identified the following as the top most influential factors:
  1. Keyword focused anchor text from external links
  2. External link popularity (quantity/quality of external links)
  3. Diversity of link sources (links from many unique root domains)
  4. Keyword use anywhere in the title tag
  5. Trustworthiness of the domain based on link distance from trusted domains
As you can see, 5 of the 4 relate to external links. Almost all aspects of the site itself and its content are considered less important.
Therefore, if the site is to rank highly for high volume keywords, it is imperative that the right kind of backlinks are created and encouraged throughout the internet.

What makes good backlinks?

The following describes the characteristics of the best possible backlink (in no particular order):
  • Relevant site – the domain/site on which the link exists is relevant to the destination site. It has appropriate and relevant content and appeals to the same target market.
  • Quality and reputation of the site – the domain/site is trustworthy, popular and well respected in its field. For example, non-commercial sites such as Wikipedia will always score higher than content aggregators and directories.
  • Relevant content – the editorial content of the page on which the link exists is relevant and similar to the content of the destination page.
  • The link is embedded in anchor text which uses a term for which you need to rank highly. For example, "I highly recommend reading my web analytics blog if you get chance"
  • The body text around the link and in the article in general uses keywords and phrases for which your site needs to rank highly.
  • The destination of the link is a page appropriate to the article, context and the anchor text used.
  • The sentimental context of the link is positive. Negative descriptive words around the link lead the engines to believe that the site is unpopular.

Backlink PR : Creating and improving backlinks

Links will appear naturally throughout the internet as the site gains popularity. But these links will not necessarily match the above criteria. There are several options for building new links and persuading content owners to amend or remove existing links:
  • Press Releases – PR that will feature on-line can be crafted and distributed according to all the above guidelines. It may even be possible to pre-populate the copy with links and anchor text which can be used by the content/media owners. If this is not possible, guidelines can be supplied along with the press release. These may not be used, but it doesn't hurt.
  • Blogs (internal/affiliated) – blogs created by you or your associates on 3rd party domains can be fully crafted according to the above guidelines.
  • Blogs (created by others) – if backlinks are found within 3rd party blogs, a polite and descriptive email to the blog owner can often persuade them to make small changes to the link, especially elements such as the anchor text. It is not appropriate to try to influence the editorial nature of the copy.
  • Blog comments – other people's blogs almost always include the ability to make comments. If the blog is relevant to the subject matter of your site, then a comment can be made including a link to the appropriate page. Some blog sites also provide the ability to use html href tags, therefore allowing anchor text. This type of link-building should be approached with caution. Absolute transparency about who is making the comment is essential. Also, the comment should be appropriate, relevant and meaningful. Bloggers are very quick to pick up spamming and underhand link building techniques.
  • Articles/editorial created by others – relevant articles and editorial content are a prime target for link building. If the article already contains a link to the site, then (as with blogs) a polite email to the webmaster or editor can often result in subtle changes being made to the link copy. If the site is relevant and does not include a link, a similar email can be crafted to persuade the inclusion of a link. Media owners may get a large volume of these emails, therefore the email must be personal, the content relevant and the link must add something to their article
  • Wikipedia etc – has high kudos with the search engines. If articles can be created or contributed to, then links and/or foot references can be placed. As with other links, these must of course be relevant.
  • Directories – bespoke directories for your particular industry/topic/hobby often allow short descriptions to be created along with site submissions. However, only the most relevant and well respected directories should be used. For more information go to free seo tools and basics seo help tips

A note on etiquette

Aggressive link-building techniques almost always backfire and result in lower search rankings or bad publicity from bloggers and other online commentators. Link building communications should be approached with the same respectfulness as any other marketing communication. For example, the motivation for commenting on a blog post may be to create a link, but the content and relevance of the comment itself is far more important. If the comment is not relevant and does not reflect your brand then this is far worse publicity than anything that can be incurred by lower search rankings if the link were not there. Search Engine Optimization Tips For Bing

With recent Microsoft - Yahoo deals which combine their search and advertising abilities, there are large consequences for many webmasters. For me personally, I have ignored MSN, Live, and even the recent Bing for so long. It seems like a little too much problem to search-engine optimize my websites for such a small target audience of Microsoft search engines. Visitors from Microsoft search engines (whatever the name is) in my sites accounts for less than 10%, across all sites. Google generally make up about 60%-70%. There are exceptions, however. Some sites have more visitors from Yahoo than from Google.

However, now that Yahoo is going to hand their search capability to Microsoft Bing, it becomes essential that we take steps to ensure that our websites are ready for the change. Bing also seems to be well received by more Internet users, and there is possibility that they might be able to gain some market share from Google.

Generally, search engine optimization is almost the same, regardless which search engine you want to optimize for. However, there are also some additional details you need to take care of.

Here are some search engine optimization tips for Bing

1. Contents

Contents are king. Good contents are what differentiate good websites from the bad. Even if you disregard all other optimization tips below, you will still get much ahead compared than if you get all those below but neglect to have good contents in your site. Search engines want to be useful to the users so they can gain more and more market share. They want to find good contents that can satisfy and match the users need. All other criteria are actually additional way to find out how good and important a page is.

Good contents are:

1. Unique, not copied or duplicate from other sites

2. Useful and interesting information for website visitors

3. With more than 300 words of content (specially for Bing)

2. Page title

In all major search engines, page title is among the most important part of Search Engine optimization. However, it seems somehow that Bing pays more attention to the page title compared with other search engines. Order of the words does not matter much, but you must make sure to place your most important keywords of each page to the page title. Limit your page title to 80 characters the most. Shorter page title means higher importance on each word. And get different page title for each page. Concentrating on just a few key phrase will not get you a lot of visitors, even if each of them rank first. This concept is something called as long tail optimization.

Here is some additional tips from Bing webmaster community about page title:

-The closer a word is to the start, the more heavily weighted it is as a keyword. This is true for the bot as well as the reader.

- Keep the title text between 5 and 65 characters in length

- For greatest efficiency and consistency, write titles using this syntax: keyword phrase, category, website title (or brand)

- Make the title text unique on every page

- Do not use any of the following special characters in title text: '"{}[]()

3. Page URL: Domain name, sub-domain, folder name and file name

Yahoo and Bing place specially high importance on the page URL compared to Google. Try search hotels in dublin in Bing. Notice that 9 out of 10 results on the first page have the words hotel and dublin in the URL, while the only other one has the word dublin even though it does not contain the word hotel. Try the same search for hotels in dublin in Google. Notice now there are 7 results with the word "hotel" and "dublin" in URL, one result with the word "hotel", while the other two does not have any of the word "hotel" or "dublin" in the URL.

Domain name is not something you can choose over and over or create one for each keyword, so if you have not started your site yet, think and choose a domain name that is most appropriate for your niche. That should be for your most important keyword/key phrase. If you have started the website and the domain name isn't that ideal, then be it. You'll be more than make up for it if you follow these search engine optimization tips.

Sub-domains and folder names are most appropriate for sub-category within your niche.

File name will the most specific keyword for each page, it should be somewhere along the page title. I would recommend slight variation from the page title to get the maximum result.

For example, if your website is about hotel, and one of your target market is hotels in dublin, the ideal URL would be dublin(dot)hotel(dot)com/compare.html for comparison between dublin hotels and dublin(dot)hotel(dot)com/information.html for information about dublin hotels. Of course, most of such domain names has been taken long ago, so you got to use some creativity in choosing a good domain name.

There are arguments on which one is more important between sub-domain and folder. I say, it is up to you. These are mere tools, you can choose to use either sub-domain or folder name. Or you can choose using both of them. Remember though, try to keep the URL as short as possible. Search engines loves short URL.

4. Link back and Link out

Link-back remains one of the most important aspect of Search Engine Optimization. Some webmasters swears by "If content is king, then link-back is the queen". Link-back, or sometimes called inbound link, means the hyperlinks from other websites to our sites. Natural links from other sites (when they link to us in their article) without any reciprocal link (us linking back to them in return) remains the best valued link back.

Other methods like web directory submission or link exchange is still useful, even though it is having much less influence on Google. Bing is less stringent compared to Google for what constitute as valid link-back, so every link back to your site counts. However, remember that while it is easier for you to accumulate link-back, so are your competitors.

The most valuable links are not those link to your homepage, but linking to specific internal pages. That is called deep-linking.

Aside from link-back to your website, link-out (also called outbound links) to reputable sources is also a good way to improve your site ranking. Do a research and be careful of who you link to. You do not want to link to websites frowned upon by search engines. For example search for "site:cheatad.com" in Google, Yahoo and Bing. You'll see there are pages indexed in all 3 search engines. If you see that a specific website does not have any page indexed, steer clear of them. Either those are new websites (which do not have much reputation point to pass anyway) or bad websites.

5. Use Bing Webmaster Center

Following Google Webmaster Tools and Yahoo Site Explorer path, Bing have Webmaster Center for webmasters to manage and review their website and Search Engine Optimization effectiveness. In the Webmaster Center, you can submit your website and sitemap, diagnose crawling issues, as well as review back-links and outbound links.

6. Meta tags: Meta Description and Meta Keywords

By now, these are considered ancient techniques already. Do not bother too much with those, unless you have extra spare times.

Well, try the simple techniques above and your website will get much ahead in a very short time.

SEO tips for new clients

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines.Search Engine Optimization work is a natural choice.
seo tips for new user
mostly client wants to know why their SEO campaign isn't delivering more traffic, why their rankings aren't going up, and why they aren't doing better for non-branded keywords.  without a strong website to build an SEO campaign from, the end results aren't going to be as profitable as they could be and on-site SEO is a critical component of a strong website.
If you don't have a good handle on who the people are who are buying your products, how will your SEO consultant help you bring those people to your website? An SEO consultant needs to have a clear picture of who you are because everything we do hinges upon this  from the keyword research to deciding what type of content needs to be written, to how you might want to attack social media marketing.
most clients these days have done at least some rudimentary SEO. While I can usually spot any on-page optimization, it's helpful to hear it from you. Sometimes, the things clients say they've done (e.g., created keyword-rich Title tags) don't actually seem to be done when I look for them. That tells me that your idea of SEO and mine may be quite different, and it's good to know this up front. It's also good to know if you have already been through a string of SEOs and what each of them has done to the site during their tenure.Don't think another company or site is their competitor. Very often, the only reason people think it is that the other site shows up in the search results for the keyword phrase that the client wants to show up for! While that may make them your competitor, it also may not. It may simply mean that you're shooting for the wrong keyword phrases. It's also very helpful to look at competitor sites to see how they're set up and whether they seem to have done much in the way of SEO or not.
You l need to add some other smaller conversion points, such as signing up  or updates, following you on social media, filling out a contact form, calling you, etc. As an SEO you need to know what all of these points are so that you can make sure that the client's web analytics are set up to correctly capture all the conversions, and that the website is properly leading people to complete those conversions

How You Can Get Started with Accepting Guest Post on your website?

0 comments Posted by Rahul Makhija on 18:07

Increasing traffic to a site is an activity that many site owners are spending a great deal of time in learning. One of the main reasons why increasing the traffic on the site is so important today is because it is tied to popularity and money. Fortunately, there are many different sites online that can provide the business owner with the information that is needed. From information on search engine optimization techniques to social networks, there is a huge amount of information that a site owner can search through to find out what will work and what will not.

For those who are operating their own blogs, there are many ways to increase the views on the site. People who are well versed in posting good information on their own site are normally very skilled in keeping people engaged because they know and understand what their audience is looking for. However, in addition to the audience reading the information that the blogger has acquired over time, the blogger can also solicit the expertise of others. By soliciting the expertise of other bloggers, the site owner can also increase the traffic to their site. Soliciting blogs from others involves guests blogging.

Benefits of Soliciting Guest Bloggers

Even if the individual operates a small blog that has only a few hundred monthly visitors, they can benefit from offering space on their site for a guest blogger. Some of the benefits to having a guest blogger include:

Acquiring unique and quality content. Some bloggers will interview the guest blogger before their post their information. In fact, some of the blog site owners may choose to approve the titles that they will write about. If the titles that the guest blogger provides are acceptable, the information can be posted on their site. Most site owners will be looking for unique and quality content, which is always needed if the blogger is going to keep the readers' engaged.

Reduces the time-spent writing. Keeping a site filled with good quality content is not always easy because it does take both time and effort. If the site is going to be successful, it is important for the owner of the site to plan out what they are going to write about. This involves keeping a listening ear out for the things that most readers like. Also, based on the site, the blogger can provide useful information about several related topics (i.e. how to fix a credit report). Therefore, by soliciting multiple guest bloggers, the site owner can also reduce the time that is normally spent in writing articles. If the site owner makes the right plans, guests bloggers can help to fill in the gaps on certain days of the week or month.

Getting Started and Useful Tips

Getting started does not have to be a difficult task, if the site owner has the write information. Listed below are some tips that can be used.

Post a Guest Blogger Page.

Posting a guests blogger page is a win-win situation for both the blog site owner and guest blogger. By posting a guest blogger page, the site owner can explain what they are looking for and what guests blogging will mean to them. For example, potential bloggers will know that they will be receiving free publicity from the site. In addition to free publicity, the bloggers will also have a link added that will lead the readers back to their site. The guests blogger page should also indicate the timeframes for these guests appearance (i.e. dates when the articles will be published).

Post a Get Interviewed page.

To make it easy for the guest bloggers to respond to the Guest Blogger Page, the site owner should create a list of standard questions. Even though this can be changed out on a regular basis (weekly, monthly or yearly), these questions will give the guests blogger a head start and they will know what the site owner is looking for. Which means, they will not have to spend a lot of time researching nor contacting the site owners about their preferences or requirements.

Utilize social networking forums to get the word out.
Twitter, Facebook and other social network are great tools when reaching a specific target audience. Therefore, the site owner can reach a large target audience with one message. Prior to making any type of announcements regarding this need, the site owner should check the rules of the forums before they do any type of solicit.

Another great option for soliciting guests bloggers is to contact them via private requests. These can be bloggers where there are previous relationships formed (community associations) or new bloggers that the audience may be specifically impressed by.

Writing Quality Post as SEO's Vital Weapon

Author: Andrew Phillips Moore
The term SEO signifies race and competition for optimization. Imperatively, this means a lot to all webmaster that is why they induce themselves into thorough planning and strategizing on the ways to keep their site searchable in the search engines. There have been strategies that somehow co-relate the significance of its aim and purpose.
To that, in relation to SEO I would like to stress some tips in quality content writing as the tool in maintaining the dominancy of your site against its competing allies.
I am hoping that this, quality content writing tips could somehow help you in becoming a prolific content producer.
http://allabout4fun.blogspot.com/2012/10/writing-quality-post-as-seos-vital_7.html
Writing Quality Post as SEO's Vital Weapon
  • Always keep a stack of good ideas up your sleeve for quality content writing - as a writer, make sure that you have your bunch of ideas before setting down and clicking that keyboards and mouse. It is a stigma for a writer to write something without any prior knowledge on what he is doing. Always keep your sleeves means having that ample of ideas on your topic so that it won't embarrassing for you, thus as what the saying goes" you cannot give what you do not have, the same as you cannot preach what you never know".
  •  Blog in batches- as what particular to any work, systematic approach would always be the best pedagogical way to follow. This how we do this: always do all the basic task at one time, you have to consider the amount of time spent in every actions that you will do, to avoid this plan and have your SOP rules to follow.
  • Chronobiology- We are all unique thus, we jive in to the different rhythm of our lives. Some write with the accompaniment of music while others don't have the same thing. Okay this how they explain this:  This is called chronobiology by the Scientists —" refers to a man's normal and inner life clock. All you have to do is to make your hard-wired more accepted in a particular time of the day, for sure you'll be lesser radiant! Very clear right? So better, determine your chronobiological patterns now.
  • Write ahead- time constraints will always be our greatest pressure in writing articles. If you are writing article content always, measure the time to spend in reviewing the article prior to hitting that send button.
  •  Make it Straightforward- "Short and concise" and avoid rambling too long on your ideas. Some may wander in the construction of the ideas to escape this, always stick into a single. . Over-thinking is a waste of time as well as bringing you up with a pruning miscellaneous. How about getting a catch of nap and preferably indulging yourself into a more relaxing activity like music and movies... What do you think?
